Il GaGa – Channel Status Report

17 08 2010

The weather is not cooperating yet and we still don’t have a swim date.  The boat captain is hoping for a weather change today and a start of the cycle tomorrow.  We are the second in line, with a solo female ahead of us.  The captain says our team would only need an 10 hour weather window whereas she will need a 12 hour window, so there is a chance we could jump ahead of her in the queue.

Jim woke Saturday with a stomach flu or food poisoning.  By Sunday night we were at the Dover hospital getting him checked out.  Although doing much better now, he still is way below 100% and will struggle to do a full share of the swimming.

We are filling the time with a little exercise and some free time at the Public Houses (also called Pubs).  We have a great cottage near the water, but have not gone in yet.  John thinks it might psyche him out if the water felt really cold so best to just jump in off the boat and deal with it then.  England has great walking trails up and down the coast so we have taken advantage of them.
